LEVEL ONE: OBJECTIVES
To
start to learn about riding ponies
To be aware of the correct way to behave around ponies |

LEVEL TWO: OBJECTIVES
To understand the correct riding position and start to
develop balance
To improve knowledge in how to handle ponies and develop greater
appreciation of them |
|
LEVEL THREE: OBJECTIVES
To understand how to control a pony, showing a correct
and reasonably balanced position in walk and trot
To develop confidence and ability in handling ponies and improve your
knowledge of them |

LEVEL FOUR: OBJECTIVES
To achieve confidence in walk and trot and develop
improved position through changes in pace and direction
To increase knowledge about ponies and show a positive manner in
handling them |
|
LEVEL FIVE: OBJECTIVES
To attain a balanced seat independent of the reins,
showing correct position in walk and trot with an understanding of how
to increase/decrease pace & change direction.
To produce riders ready to start learning to ride without being led.
To attain a better awareness and enjoy learning about ponies, to
demonstrate correct way to behave around ponies |

STABLES JUNIOR PROGRESS AWARDS - BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD
AGES 8 AND ABOVE |

BRONZE AWARD: OBJECTIVES
To demonstrate good
control of a pony, showing a correct and balanced position in
walk, trot and canter when riding independently.
To show the correct way to handle ponies and demonstrate a good
basic knowledge of them. |

SILVER AWARD: OBJECTIVES
To be able to show a
balanced and secure seat in all paces, recognise the correct
diagonal in trot and ride simple school movements and changes of
speed and direction.
To demonstrate a growing understanding of how to look after a
stabled pony. |

GOLD AWARD: OBJECTIVES
To demonstrate an
effective, balanced seat in walk, trot and canter and be able to
ride without stirrups in walk and trot. To show an
understanding of correct canter leads, perform simple school
movements and ride different ponies in the school and out
hacking.
To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of how to look after a
stabled pony. |

the contents of all the above tests are displayed on the Office
Notice Board |

Tests are taken during their usual lesson time and your
child’s instructor will advise you when they are ready to progress to
the next test. Please be assured we wouldn’t allow children to take
these tests if we weren’t certain that they would pass. Prior
notice is needed and as each level is passed they are awarded with a
Wimbledon Village Stables Progress Award Badge and Certificate.
Badges should be worn whenever children are riding to enable their
instructor to see which level they have reached and then work towards
the next level. |
