We
would like to thank
Peter Cox Photography for kindly sponsoring this award,
which we have introduced to encourage a bit of light hearted and
friendly competition: who will impress their instructor the most
and win next month? Each month’s winner will receive a medal to
keep, be given the Challenge Trophy to take home for a month and
have their photo on the website – an irresistible opportunity to
prove how much progress you can make and to show just how good your
instructor is at helping you to realise your full potential as a
rider!
We are very excited about our new horse, Dartans Handsome Jack, a 16 hands 2 inch, 7 year old gelding by Don Juan de la Bouverie,
who will be competing in British Eventing competitions with Sasha.
Want to be involved - why don't
you become a supporter of Jack?
Receive regular updates of his
progress both schooling and come along to the events and watch him
too if you want! Get involved with the
equestrian discipline that wins us medals at Olympic and World
level.
Why not book a two
hour ride over to Richmond Park and see Richmond Park at its best. We have rides going over Tuesday-Fridays at 10.15.
For experienced riders only.
If you have been thinking
about going horse riding but haven’t got around to doing anything
about it then come along to one of our Open Mornings at the Stables
and find out more.
Come along and meet some of
the instructors/horses, have a coffee and discuss your riding needs
with our team. Learn how we do things, watch a lesson, and find out
how our Membership scheme works. We will try to answer all your
questions in a relaxed informal environment and you will meet other
like-minded potential riders. Feel free to come alone or with a
group of friends. There will be absolutely no obligation for you to
sign up for any rides or lessons and you may even find out that
riding is not the sport for you, although obviously we hope that is
not the case.
If you are interested in
attending please email Claire on
admin@wvstables.com or give us a ring to find out more. Numbers
limited so sign up soon
This is
for adult weekday riders of any standard, including complete

RIDING AND ROAD SAFETY COURSE
Contact office to ask for dates of next Courses
with Caroline Stevenson BHSI
The BHS Riding and Road Safety Test is taken by over 4,000
candidates a year and helps to educate riders in road safety in
order to minimise the risk involved when riding on the roads.
Training is available to all riders from 12 years of age and the
test is supported by the DETR.
For more information about the Exam
Non-members £225, Members: £150 (if in addition
to weekly ride) or FREE
At the end of the six week course we will arrange
a date for you to take the test at a local Examination Centre
(payable separately)
If you are
interested in learning more about how to look after horses or if you
are taking your BHS Exams then take a look at the Stables Management
and Horse Care Courses that we have starting in the February. Sign
up now if you are interested in participating.
Over four half-day sessions
with a senior instructor, you will learn to develop a deeper, more
balanced seat, to use aids more subtly and effectively, and to
develop a better understanding of how to get the best from
every horse you ride. There are two hours of riding
instruction on each day which are followed by a lecture/demo which
will reinforce the theory of what you have learnt as well as
illustrating and clarifying the points covered and discussing
aspects of stable management. We restrict the number of people
on this course and so you will receive plenty of individual
attention and, we hope, get to know the other riders.
Start
of next series of 6 week short courses - 20th, 21st, 22nd,
23rd April
2010
We hold a series of
Short Riding Courses for riders of all abilities. A
short course can be the perfect introduction to the challenging
and rewarding world of riding or, for those who have ridden
before, a great way to build on experience already gained.
Whether you’re a beginner, a
recreational rider or an aspiring professional, Wimbledon
Village Stables has a Riding Course to suit you.
An informative talk and workshop
invaluable for anyone who rides or is wanting to take up riding in
the future.
Caroline Stevenson, BHSI, has
studied the ‘Ride With Your Mind’ techniques with Mary Wanless, she
will cover topics starting with horse psychology, how the horse
thinks, moves, its actions and reactions. How our attitude to
riding can affect our horse. The correct position in the saddle and
how to achieve a perfect balanced seat in all paces. And how to use
you hands, seat, legs and voice to influence the speed and direction
of the horse.
It is an absolute must for
everyone – it will be great fun with some interesting exercises for
you to perform and even practise at home.
This lecture is free for Members.
(Non-Members £10 if space available)
Please e-mail if you would like to attend.
