Rose & Dora
Well done Rose who was nominated by her Instructor Jess, for the Rider of the Month Award

Rider of the Month

We would like to thank Peter Cox Photography for kindly sponsoring this award, which we have introduced to encourage a bit of light hearted and friendly competition:  who will impress their instructor the most and win next month? Each month’s winner will receive a medal to keep, be given the Challenge Trophy to take home for a month and have their photo on the website – an irresistible opportunity to prove how much progress you can make and to show just how good your instructor is at helping you to realise your full potential as a rider!

New Rider’s Open Mornings
Starting at 10.30

 Tuesday 7th September, 5th October, 9th November

If you have been thinking about going horse riding but haven’t got around to doing anything about it then come along to one of our Open Mornings at the Stables and  find out more.

Come along and meet some of the instructors/horses, have a coffee and discuss your riding needs with our team. Learn how we do things, watch a lesson, and find out how our Membership scheme works.  We will try to answer all your questions in a relaxed informal environment and you will meet other like-minded potential riders. Feel free to come alone or with a group of friends.  There will be absolutely no obligation for you to sign up for any rides or lessons and you may even find out that riding is not the sport for you, although obviously we hope that is not the case.

If you are interested in attending please email Claire on admin@wvstables.com or give us a ring to find out more. Numbers limited so sign up soon

This is for adult weekday riders of any standard, including complete beginners.

PARTY

WVS is 30!
Friday 10th September 2010 at Cannizaro Hotel

Who can forget the 1980s: a new era for fashion, big hair, music and of course, Wimbledon Village Stables.  30 years ago the stables reopened, with 12 horses and a new team in the saddle.

Three decades on, it’s time to celebrate our past, our present and our future.  Join us at Wimbledon’s finest – the Cannizaro Hotel on Friday 10th September - and catch up with friends, members and livery owners from times past and today. There’ll be a fabulous food served throughout the evening. Tickets cost £40 and the Cannizaro Hotel is also offering discounted room rates (from £85 inc. breakfast) for WVS party go-ers so book a room now.

Tickets are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Dress: smart casual, but no jeans (and no, you don’t have to dress in 80s gear)

Royal Horse Gala
11th and 12th September

The Royal Horse Gala is an amazing exhibition of the worlds’ most talented riders and horses, with skilfully choreographed dressage performances by Lipizzaner, Lusitano, Andalusian, Arab, and Friesian stallions from five of the world’s outstanding classical riding schools.

With special guest Jean-Marc Imbert the famous horse whisperer, showcasing his stunning horses that have all been trained bareback by voice alone.

Also the first lucky 500 people to buy tickets for the Sunday matinee performance will also receive FREE tickets to the morning Master Class (you lucky things!), which includes demonstrations and explanations from the trainers with the horses. The class will last an hour and start at 11.00am on the Sunday. Simply ring 0871 230 5595 and quote ‘Gala’, and if you’re one of the first 500 people to do so, the tickets will be all yours!

Intensive Four Day Course
Tuesday 19th - Friday 22nd October
9.00-12.30

Over four half-day sessions with a senior instructor, you will learn to develop a deeper, more balanced seat, to use aids more subtly and effectively, and to develop a better understanding of how  to get the best from every horse you ride.  There are two hours of riding instruction on each day which are followed by a lecture/demo which will reinforce the theory of what you have learnt as well as illustrating and clarifying the points covered and discussing aspects of stable management.  We restrict the number of people on this course and so you will receive plenty of individual attention and, we hope, get to know the other riders.
