Horse riding courses and rider training

Wimbledon Village Stables offers riders the opportunity to join specialised training courses which take place on weekdays from Tuesday through to Friday.  There are courses for all levels of ability – from complete beginners through to the more advanced riders requiring dressage or jumping tuition. Use the ‘Experience Levels’ chart below to discover which courses would be best for you.

There are one day courses such as Learn to Ride in a Day – which is perfect for the complete beginner keen to get a concise yet thorough grounding to prepare them for the future. We have bespoke Refresher Courses for the more experienced riders who perhaps have had some time out from the sport and who want to brush up on their technique. If your time is governed by school holidays, you may want to take advantage of the six-week courses which operate during term-time. These consist of a one hour or two hour lesson each week for six weeks. Our Intensive Four Day Course which runs Tuesday to Friday during the school holidays is very popular and is ideal for those who have mornings to spare and lots of energy!

The good news for Gold and Silver Members is that many of the courses are available free of charge if the instruction is taken as your weekly ride. You do not need to be a Wimbledon Village Stables Member to take part in a course, although Members will receive priority when booking. If you see a course which you would like to participate in please check availability by completing the Course Enquiry Form or telephoning the office. Please note that numbers are limited so do please book early to avoid disappointment.
