“Simply” – Riding made SiFullSizeRendermple!

Café Rouge, on 4th November 2015, provided the lovely venue for another superb evening with freelance instructor and leading horsey authority, Patrick Print.

“Is riding a sport – a hobby – a past time – or an art”?

“The horse is not a volunteer”, “Riders’ egos get in the way”, “Inexperience and poor training”, “Engrained bad habits”, “Not thinking of the psychology of the horse” – Patrick answered, replying to the invitation from the Chair, John White, to explain just how do riders make it more difficult for themselves.

Recounting a story of parental angst at a show in Birmingham, then an incident when one of his bosses horses “kicked off” – literally, Patrick was more than a fountain of knowledge, he was a broad flowing river of astute observation, thoughtful detail and powerful common sense.

Patrick showed us some handy physical exercises:  toe touches, with realism; core strength, for the sensible; and jumping position analysis for all the best aspiring riders, keeping us glued to the discussion, in awe of the fantastic tips.

Food and Q&As added to the fun of an evening that we just wanted to last for ever.  For riders seeking excellent education with entertainment, look no further than Patrick Print.

Patrick will very kindly be back to see us in February 2016 for his next talk and we are already looking forward to it.
