“The world is best viewed through the ears of a horse” Anon

Wimbledon Common has 1,100 acres of beautiful countryside

…with miles of well maintained rides…

… featuring glorious woodland rides through secluded areas full of natural wildlife

… stopping at the water trough by the historic Windmill.

Wimbledon Common directly connects to the 2,700 acres of Richmond Park and Ham Common.

It is an area of outstanding natural beauty …

… grazed by herds of wild deer, giving riders the opportunity from time to time to ride “off tracks” …

…and you can even visit Pen Ponds on a warm summer’s day.

Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park…

offer some of the best riding in England – you won’t believe you are so close to the City!

Our hacks are for experienced riders only.

Should you wish to improve your skills, we have expert qualified instructors to help you achieve your goals. Lessons take place in the schooling ring in the heart of the Common.

Beginners and novice riders are taught on the tracks, with a private instructor either leading them or riding beside them if they are able to ride off the lead rein.

Private lessons are recommended for those wanting more specialised instruction.

In addition, we run a range of very popular special weekday short courses that cater for all ranges of ability.

We hold Open Mornings once a month to welcome new riders.

We organise regular lectures and demonstrations for those keen to learn.

There are many social events organised throughout the year including barbeques and members lunches

After your ride you can enjoy a cold drink and a friendly welcome from the Dog and Fox.

…or relax in one of the many coffee shops or restaurants in the Village.

We love being part of the Wimbledon Village community and at Christmas we hold a magical Carol Concert in the Stable Yard.

And children love to see Santa Claus riding down the High Street on Christmas Shopping Day.

Wimbledon Village Stables operates a unique Membership Scheme which offers clients the benefits of an exclusive service.

Members can take jumping lessons and …

…enjoy private hacks on Wimbledon Common or…

…join us on one of our Special Richmond Park Rides…
Member’s Events

Our Annual Charity Ball takes place in March and is held at the Cannizaro Hotel. It is a fabulous evening and a great opportunity for everybody to socialise and have lots of fun. Our spectacular raffle always raises thousands of pounds for charity.

Our Annual Summer Show in aid of the Wimbledon Guild takes place in June on the Common. There are classes for all levels. It is a great day out and Members who are not competing can come along on the day and help out. After the show there’s a chance to unwind back at the yard with a drink and a burger!

During the show the Instructors perform their Musical Ride.

At the end of the Summer we hold our Member’s Horse Show. There are showing and jumping classes and a special prize for the Champion of the Day.

The WVS Awards Party is held at the end of September. It is a fun, light-hearted event and gives everyone the opportunity to meet up again after the long summer holidays.

Our Annual Sponsored Ride takes place in October and it gives Members the opportunity to participate in an enjoyable charity event. Last year our riders were sponsored over £19,000 to complete the 10 mile ride over Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park. If you want to, you can even take part wearing fancy dress!
We are a friendly, lively yard with a wealth of experience in developing the skills of both the capable rider and the novice. Riders who simply ride to have fun and relax are as important to us as those determined to improve and compete. Each and every client is treated as an individual and our own special ‘community’ is enriched by people of all abilities, from all walks of life, with one thing in common – a love of horses and riding.
