Annual Summer Horse Show. To mark the end of the summer holidays we hold an annual show which is for our Members only. If you have never competed before but have always wanted to give it a go – this is the event for you but it is also suitable for more experienced riders. There are showing classes in the morning and show jumping in the afternoon and it is all managed in a supportive and encouraging way and our staff will be on hand to help you. There are fabulous rosettes for all, and the rider who gains the most points throughout the day is the Champion of the Day.

Let us know if you want to take part and we will enter you in the ballot. We also need volunteers to help us run the show, so if you would like to be involved but don’t want to ride, come along and help us!

EquiPosture is a different way of thinking about your riding. It teaches you how to release yourself from unnecessary tensions and habits. You learn how to remove the blocks that prevent you and your horse from really making the progress that you know is possible. You learn to become more poised, released and centred, with the ease and balance of a natural rider. Join Alison Craig BHSI and Sue Merry MSTAT for a wonderful opportunity to experience an introduction to EquiPosture on the amazing horse simulator.

The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 6 participants. This will enable everyone to have the opportunity to experience some hands-on work while riding the simulator. This workshop is suitable for all riders.

The opportunity for you to come along and look around the stables,  have a coffee and discuss your riding needs with one of our team. See our amazing equine simulator and find out how our Membership scheme works. We will try to answer all your questions in a relaxed informal environment and you will meet other like-minded potential riders. Feel free to come alone or with a group of friends.

Who is this 6 week programme suitable for

Anyone that suffers from pain, injuries, niggles, muscle imbalances? Perhaps you feel unbalanced in the saddle and you want to improve your core and postural strength to feel safer in the saddle? Returning to riding after a break or having a baby? Want to prevent horse riding falls and injuries? Benefit from a small group class of maximum 6 people to ensure full individual focus? Benefit from a free one to one goal setting and medical screening for 15 minutes with Amanda before commencement of the 6 week programme to ensure your expectations and goals of the course are met.

Cost £120.00, 9th, 23rd, 30th Sept, 7th, 14th, 21st Oct (There is a one week gap) Time 2:30-3:30pm Saturdays

 7.30pm - 8.30pm for 6 weeks

Horse riders have unique demands for a stable and strong lower body, a relaxed upper body, a steady breath and strong mental focus. In addition to improving balance, posture and alignment with yoga poses, the aim of these sessions is to address the following: Stretching tight hamstrings and inner thighs, Opening hips for a stronger seat, Increasing strength in core, Lengthening spine to counter possible compression in lower back, Strengthening muscles in upper back, Opening and releasing tension in shoulder region, Bringing a state of calm within and developing greater mind control with breathing techniques

About the instructor:  Annette Wiik is a Yoga Academy Certified Teacher (BWY-Accredited School) and have been practicing yoga for 20 years. Holding a certificate from Bangor University to teach mindfulness-based courses, she incorporates her knowledge of mindfulness meditation in all her yoga classes.

British Horse Society: Stage 1 - Horse Knowledge and Care

This is a great course for anyone wanting to know more about looking after horses and providing you with the knowledge and practice of looking after a well-mannered horse in the stable and at grass. Those wishing to take the exam at the end of the course must be current members of the BHS and over 14 years of age. Copies of the syllabus are available direct from the British Horse Society.

7pm - 8.30pm for 10 weeks.  Members £250, non members £300.

From 10.15 am - 11.15 am Horses do not think like humans and their first basic thought is for their own safety and well being. A horses motto is act first and think later. This is how they have survived over the years. In order to understand a little more about what makes horses ‘tick’ we need to look at the history of their relationship with people. From 10.15-11.15a.m. This essential session will teach you everything you need to know in order to get your horse ready for the off. From the easiest way to carry tack, to the best way to approach a stabled horse. From how to safely remove rugs, to the correct way to put on both saddle and bridle and, ultimately, lead your horse to the mounting block.

We will also show you exactly what to do after riding in order to leave your horse comfortable in the stable. Following practical demonstrations you will have the opportunity to practise techniques individually.

From 7.30-8.30 pm

Learn everything about the lateral movements!  We will cover what lateral movements are as well as why and how you would ride them.  I will demonstrate them on the horse simulator and discuss the most common mistakes a rider makes whilst practising them. The benefits of training lateral movements are: 1) Improved coordination 2) Development of independent seat 3) Increased feeling for the horse

The price includes a half hour private lesson on the simulator with an instructor of your choice, this can be booked at a time to suit you.  After the seminar you can book private half an hour session on the simulator with an instructor to practise the lateral movements yourself (included in the price of the seminar).

The ride takes place over a 10 mile course across the beautiful scenery of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park and to make it a bit more fun everyone dresses up in Fancy Dress. Before we start the ride there is a wonderful parade down Wimbledon Village High Street and after the ride we all meet for a fabulous lunch and presentation of the rosettes.

Intensive Riding Course from Tuesday-Friday from 9.00-12.15.

An intensive course is an excellent way to improve and develop your riding rapidly. Our 4-day course gives you the opportunity to do this in a unique way.  Each day, you will begin with a 2 hour lesson in the arena followed by an hour riding theory or a chance use Equicise simulator, which will afford you the opportunity to work on and improve your weaknesses.

This is a magical event and has become an essential part of the Christmas festivities.

It is a traditional Carol concert, held in candlelight in the stable yard, with a choir, mince pies, mulled wine and even a visit from Santa. It is a perfect event for children but is thoroughly enjoyed by all ages and is open to all.

There are two performances one at 5 and the second at 6.30.  Tickets go on sale 1st November 2017 by collection from the stables office ONLY.

An opportunity for WVS Members to take part in the annual winter dressage competition with the winner being presented with the Vivien Colyer trophy at the annual charity ball on 11th March.

This year the test is Prelim 14.  Let your instructor know if you would like to take part and practice in your lessons, and for an extra edge book a lesson on the simulator to get the best out of your horse!

Save the Date! Our Charity Ball is the social event of the year! The evening starts with a glass of bubbly at the reception, before sitting down to a superb three course meal. There are a couple of short presentations followed by our famous raffle and the evening is rounded off by dancing until the early hours.

Ride London cycle race passes through Wimbledon Village and all the roads are closed for the day. so please, allow lots of extra time for your journey and check your route carefully to make sure you can get here. We have been given special permission to exit through the houses behind the stables so our rides will go out as usual. You should make a day of it though and come riding and then spend time in the Village watching the ride go through.
