Quality Horses in London

“Horses can’t talk, but they can speak if you listen.” Anon

Wimbledon Village Stables has 25 quality horses and ponies to suit riders of all abilities, ranging from fabulous 13.2h children’s ponies to brilliantly comfy cobs to smart 17h hunter types, all blessed with their own particular talents, from genuine and adorable paragons of virtue for the complete beginner to horses with jumping and dressage pedigrees for the most experienced.

Temperament, soundness and a willingness to work are the key attributes of a riding school horse and our 30 years’ experience stands us in good stead when it comes to finding the perfect animal; we have a network of established contacts in Ireland and the majority of the equine team has Irish Draught and Connemara breeding, some with a dash of Thoroughbred blood.

All our horses, regardless of type or size, receive the same Five Star treatment. They are schooled regularly by our staff to maintain their fitness and improve their education, and all our staff are highly trained to ensure that each horse works safely within its own capabilities.

We ensure that every horse has a life full of variety and a balanced range of work to include both lessons and hacking out over the 3,000 beautiful acres of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park. Many of our horses are also competed regularly in dressage, showjumping and cross country, and all take part in our annual Summer Show.

“I have seen things so beautiful that they have brought tears to my eyes. yet none of them can match the gracefulness and beauty of a horse running free” Anon

Just like us horses need holidays, and throughout the year all the horses benefit from spending several weeks at Sandra and Amy Cullingham’s idyllic Manor Farm Stables in Claygate. There they are able to spend their time grazing and ‘being a horse’ in 70 acres of glorious Surrey countryside.

We have a very structured routine at WVS as this is something that horses really thrive on. They need to have regular ‘quiet time’ and quickly learn when these rest periods are, so we keep the stables free from visitors at lunchtimes, all day on Monday and every day after 4.30pm.

Keeping our horses in the peak of physical and mental condition involves a great deal of hard work and dedication by our team. There is meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of the horses’ care .We take great pride in our horses being immaculately turned out. All of them are thoroughly groomed in the morning which promotes excellent physical health and mental wellbeing. All tack is also checked and cleaned daily.

Our horses’ health and welfare is of the utmost importance, and we are dedicated to ensuring both their physical and mental wellbeing. Their veterinary needs are attended to by world-renowned vet P J McMahon MRCVS and his team from King’s Park Equine Clinic near Billingshurst in West Sussex and our excellent farrier Sean Roche DipWCF visits us weekly.  We love each and every one of our horses, and are sure you will too.
