Sponsored Horse Ride in London

The WVS Sponsored Horse Ride is the longest running and most successful ride in the country

Horses are a valued and integral part of Wimbledon Village  and WVS is delighted to be a key component of the thriving and diverse Wimbledon Community.  Over the last 30 years not only have we grown into one of the country’s most successful riding schools, with industry accolades and recognition, but we have also developed into a force for good within the community.  The Stables is an essential part of many people’s visit to the Village; many pop in to meet the horses or simply stop and watch them pass by on the High Street.  Local businesses recognise their worth too; Robert Holmes, from local estate agent  Robert Holmes & Co says:  “The Stables creates a real Village atmosphere, and because of this there is a great demand for houses in Wimbledon Village“.

Horse riding Christmas activities Wimbledon

Children love seeing Father Christmas ride through the Village on Christmas Shopping Day!

Our impressive profile has helped us lend our considerable weight to worthy causes, both local and national, ranging from supporting the local business community by providing horses to help publicise events such as the Christmas and Easter shopping days and store openings, to raising donations of over £30,000 for causes with a huge national profile such as the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.  Over the last 30 years we have raised in excess of £500,000 for charity through our Annual Sponsored Ride, our Summer Horse Show on Wimbledon Common, innumerable pub quizzes and Christmas Carol Concerts.

Horses and shops in London

WVS horses are often used to promote new shops in Wimbledon Village

Local charities and institutions that we continuously support include the Royal Marsden Hospital, which has received over £194,000 from our fundraising efforts in the last nine years,  The Wimbledon GuildThe Wimbledon & Putney Commons Conservators, and the Holly Lodge Centre in Richmond Park.

Our charitable and community work has given all of us at WVS a huge amount of satisfaction, and, by common consensus, contributed greatly to the enviable profile of Wimbledon Village, but our main aim has been to help strengthen bonds within the community and support worthy causes that benefit those less able or fortunate than ourselves.

Our next major fundraising activity is our Sponsored Ride in October. Please click here if you would like to sponsor one of the riders taking part.

Wimbledon Village Stables would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us throughout the years in our fundraising efforts.
