We were thrilled to have raised the magnificent total of over £20,000 from our two 2014 Annual Sponsored Horse Rides.  The main charity to benefit was The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and we also gave smaller donations to The Holly Lodge Centre in Richmond Park and the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators.

The weather was absolutely glorious for the 40 riders who took part over the two days, so perfect for showing off the magnificent fancy dress costumes that people wore.  We literally stopped the traffic on both days and I have never seen so many people taking photographs of the riders going past.  You can see all the wonderful outfits on our Facebook page.  The best Fancy Dress on Day One was won by Nancy Clarke who was dressed as Ghengis Khan and on Day Two Tracey Alovisi’s Cruella Deville impersonation was the clear winner. We were very grateful to Bill Rowlands and Katie Miranda for judging.

Everyone made a terrific effort to raise money and the highest sponsored riders were Marian Clout, Katie Paton, Kate Fourie and Nathalie Fruchard.  We would like to say the hugest thank you to everyone who took part, everyone who sponsored our riders and those riders who normally ride on Sunday and Tuesday but who gave up their rides for the day.

I would also like to mention how grateful we are to our wonderful dedicated staff who work so hard every day looking after our exceptional, brilliant and beautiful horses and also Claire who makes the whole thing happen in the office!

Last, but by no means least, we would like to thank our main sponsor, Dina Liu and the Charm Group for their generous contribution to the ride.

2015 will be a very special year as it will be the 40th ride that Caroline and I have organised, so we are going to make it a big one – let us know now if you would like to take part.

Once again many, many thanks to everyone, we are completely overwhelmed with people’s generosity.

You can find a selection of photos from the day on our Facebook page.
