This winter, we’re pleased to offer two theory-only lecture evenings, free for members.  These relaxed sessions are suitable for all levels and focus on building practical knowledge you can apply in any riding or horse-care situation. A great way to learn, ask questions, and make the most of the darker winter evenings.   Venue to be confirmed, depending on numbers

Horse Knowledge, Care & Welfare

A practical and informative session covering the essential foundations of horse knowledge and care. This lecture will help you better understand the horse as a whole, enabling you to assess health, wellbeing, and day-to-day management with confidence. Topics include recognising key parts of the horse, estimating height, identifying colours and markings, spotting signs of good and poor health, and understanding routine health and welfare checks.

Tack, Fit & Safety

This lecture focuses on understanding tack and its correct, safe use. You’ll learn to identify the parts of the saddle and bridle, understand different types of martingales and bits and their uses.  We’ll look at how to check tack for safety, identify signs of poor fit, and understand why regular tack checks are essential for the horse’s comfort, performance, and welfare.
