There was a fantastic turnout for our dressage display evening earlier this week. The weather was perfect, warm but not too hot. Everyone set up their picnics on the grass and, as is so often the case,

the tipple of choice seemed to be champagne. The event kicked off with Sara Brown providing a detailed account of the history of dressage and an explanation of what it is all about. Sasha then demonstrated a dressage test on Birdie, talking the audience through both the warm up and the test itself. Sasha then went on to help Nadia on Poppy and Lara on Hudson working through some movements.
The next highlight of the evening was a fantastic musical ride performed by Nadia and Lara, along with Claire on Rocky and Kyle on Bentley, which prompted much cheering and clapping from the audience. The finale involved Kyle, an experienced mounted horse games competitor (yes, such games are not just for children!), showing us some examples on the fantastic Rocky. He demonstrated dismounting and remounting at a canter and picking up items from the ground at speed (please don’t try this at home!) – it was great fun to watch, especially when things didn’t go quite to plan! We also witnessed Lara demonstrating head stands on Rocky and we may well be exploring similar exploits in the future.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all those involved in the display and also to everyone who came and enjoyed the evening – I am sure you would all agree that there was a terrific atmosphere.
