On the second Saturday of every month, the Stables invites visitors to explore the yard between 2 and 3, meet the horses, and see how everything runs behind the scenes. It’s a great opportunity to learn about membership options, and see the Equicise horse simulator, designed for all ages and abilities. Plus children will love meeting Mr Fudge, the friendly Shetland pony!  Where & When: Wimbledon Village Stables, 24 A/B, High St, Wimbledon Village, London SW19 5DX, second Saturday of every month, from 2 – 3 pm. Booking: No booking required—just turn up and enjoy a relaxed, informative afternoon.

FIT AND FUN!  Every Tuesday morning at 9.00 am. (please be ready by 8.45)  These one hour rides are suitable for experienced riders only and will include longer trots and canters; there will be an emphasis on rider fitness so they will be ideal for anyone wanting to improve core strength, leg strength and balance. This winter, we’re pleased to offer two theory-only lecture evenings, free for members.  These relaxed sessions are suitable for all levels and focus on building practical knowledge you can apply in any riding or horse-care situation. A great way to learn, ask questions, and make the most of the darker winter evenings.   Venue to be confirmed, depending on numbers Wednesday 28th January at 7 pm Horse Knowledge, Care & Welfare

A practical and informative session covering the essential foundations of horse knowledge and care. This lecture will help you better understand the horse as a whole, enabling you to assess health, wellbeing, and day-to-day management with confidence. Topics include recognising key parts of the horse, estimating height, identifying colours and markings, spotting signs of good and poor health, and understanding routine health and welfare checks.

Wednesday 17th February at 7 pm Tack, Fit & Safety

This lecture focuses on understanding tack and its correct, safe use. You’ll learn to identify the parts of the saddle and bridle, understand different types of martingales and bits and their uses.  We’ll look at how to check tack for safety, identify signs of poor fit, and understand why regular tack checks are essential for the horse’s comfort, performance, and welfare.

There’s no riding involved—this is all about mindful interaction, understanding and building a connection with these intelligent, sensitive animals.

Ideal for anyone curious about horses, this course offers a gentle, educational experience that encourages confidence, respect and enjoyment for both horse and handler.

We’re excited to announce our next dressage competition on Friday, 10th April! This event is a fantastic opportunity to gauge your progress in a relaxed and supportive environment. The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back, making it the perfect setting to enjoy the experience without pressure. You’ll ride a Prelim test, judged on your position, effectiveness, and correctness of aids. Afterwards, we’ll meet in the yard for prize giving, where you’ll have a chance to debrief with the judge. It’s a great way to reflect on your performance and gain valuable insights. To top it off, we’ll have a Prosecco toast  in the yard—what better way to celebrate the day? Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or new to dressage, we’d love to see you there!  Entry fee is £20.  Rosettes for all participants. Numbers are limited - riders will need to be flexible with their riding time.  Times will be allocated on booking

Royal Windsor Horse Show is the UK’s largest outdoor premier Show and takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. There is Show Jumping; Carriage Driving;  Endurance and over 130 Showing classes. As well as international competition, there are also displays from The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The Land Rover Shetland Pony Grand National, DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games and more! The showground hosts five arenas, an extensive Shopping Village and a Food Court. Just a reminder that during the Tennis Fortnight you should expect some traffic congestion on your way to the stables.  Also some of the parking is being removed so you may not be able to park in your usual spot so allow more time to find somewhere to park.

Royal Hospital Chelsea will once again be the unique and prestigious venue for the London leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour. World-class show jumping will take place on the South Grounds which lead down to the River Thames, with the breathtaking backdrop of the heritage buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Founded by King Charles II over 300 years ago, it has provided care and comradeship for veterans, known the world over as the Chelsea Pensioners. The event has become a fixture on the social calendar with celebrities such as Jodie Kidd, Rory Bremner, Richard Hammond and Ronan Keating amongst others, all enjoying the action.

Wimbledon Village Stables' Annual Fancy Dress Ride is  on Saturday, 12th September around Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park!  Our riders will be raising funds for amazing charities. Please consider supporting them with a donation. Come and cheer on our riders in their Fancy Dress parade down the High Street at 9:15 and 12:15. The Wimbledon Village Business Association is hosting a Dress Up For Charity day with fun activities, including a doggie fancy dress competition. Join us for the Prize Giving party at 12.30 in the yard—tickets available.   We can't wait to celebrate this special day with you and appreciate your support!

Join us for Our Magical Christmas Carol Concert in the Stable Yard! This enchanting event has become an essential part of the Christmas festivities in Wimbledon Village, perfect for adults and children alike. Enjoy the festive atmosphere as we gather to sing carols in a traditional stable setting. Hot drinks, mulled wine, and mince pies will be served to keep you warm and in good spirits. And for our younger guests, there will even be a special visit from Santa Claus. WVS Riding Safari – 2027 (Expression of Interest) Each year, we organise a Riding Safari exclusively for WVS members — a truly special opportunity to travel together, ride as a group, and enjoy an unforgettable holiday with people you already know from the yard. Riding safaris offer a completely unique experience: there is nothing quite like riding on horseback amongst zebra, giraffe, rhino and other wildlife. It’s an experience that stays with you forever, matched only by the exceptional hospitality and care found at these safari lodges, which is truly second to none. We are currently exploring the possibility of another Riding Safari in 2027. Dates and venue have not yet been confirmed, but at this stage we would love to hear from members who may be interested. If you would like to be kept informed and receive updates as plans develop, please email the office to register your interest.
