2022 Charity Ball

Saturday 5th March 2022 saw the return of the extremely popular Wimbledon Village Stables Charity Ball at the Hotel du Vin, Wimbledon.

A fantastic 135 people arrived through the doors to a very warm welcome from the birthday girl Caroline, and to a well received glass of fizz. Having had an absence of the Ball during the last two Covid years, the party goers absolutely rose to the occasion and it was by far one of the most glamorous crowds we have seen! The dazzling, dashing, glitz and glam was not at all out of place in the beautiful Hotel du Vin who were our hosts for the evening. The Belle Epoque and the Orangery looked absolutely beautiful and the evening could simply not be faulted. We were looked after impeccably well by a friendly and attentive team of staff and the meal was delicious. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic venue and amenable team on our doorstep who are willing to host our annual event.

The reception drinks and dinner lay host to our fantastic magician Greg Williamson who single handedly amazed and bewildered everyone! He was enthralling, extremely smooth and a really fun addition to the evening. The entertainment did not stop there! We had the fantastic photobooth available all evening which was very popular and I’m sure saw some hilarious sights, and dinner was followed by a surprise silent disco which got everybody dancing – even those not so keen to leave their seats! It was brilliant fun and a great way to dance away all that fantastic food and drink!

The Ball was raising money this year for the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators and we were so pleased that the Chief Executive Stephen Bound was able to join us for the evening and say a few words on behalf of the team that work so hard to keep our Common safe and beautiful. We are awaiting confirmation of the total amount raised but it is sure to be over £10,000 Which brings the total we have raised for the WPCC to over £100,000!!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and prizes for the silent auction. Both of these were great fun and were a huge contributor to the amount of money raised on the night. We are so grateful to have such lovely friends who are able to donate so generously.  Another big thank you goes out to all the sponsors who enable us to have such a luxurious evening and to Matt Brown for all your hard work on the night taking photos.
A final thank you goes to our very own WVS Events committee who for such a long time now have been planning this evening and have handled all the various Covid restrictions and unknowns so effortlessly. We absolutely would not have such a successful evening without all of your support and hard work.

Since Saturday, so many people who came for the first time have said that it was the best ball they have ever been to! Make sure then that if you don’t want to miss out on next years incredible party, save the date! 4th March 2022
