For many, the Wimbledon Village Stables Annual Christmas Carol Concert signifies the start of Christmas. This year was no exception, as both services, generously sponsored by Andrew Scott Robertson,

were sold out within hours of the tickets being released; 200 people attended each of the services, raising an impressive £2,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The Rev Mandy Hodgson from St Mary’s Wimbledon conducted the two candlelit Carol Concerts, which were attended by the Deputy Mayor of Merton, Edward Foley, Stephen Hammond MP, Chairman of the WVBA, Adrian Mills and The Wimbledon Society’s Asif Malik.

After the carols, there was a surprise visit from Santa Claus and his dancing elves and, despite the wonderful mild evening, adults and children alike were delighted by the snowfall on the yard just as Jingle Bells was being sung.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic volunteers who helped on the night and worked so hard and cheerfully, contributing to the great atmosphere and helping to increase the takings through excellent bucket shaking! We particularly appreciated your help in clearing up afterwards. The event would not have been possible without all of you!

There are some fabulous photos from the night on our Facebook page so do take a look.  Photo Credit http://www.iamveronicalane.com/

We’ve already fixed the date for next year, 5th December 2020 so I hope you will put in your diary and save the date!
