The sun was shining for our annual Members’ Show, as liveries and members alike turned up to help get their mounts ready. The day started with the tack and turnout competition, won by Katie (and Emerald) during which extra points awarded to those competitors who came extra early to help prepare their horses.

The day was so warm that expert judges Jen and Sasha gave competitors the option to remove their coats before the start of the first showing class, Riding Club Horse. Katie Paton won the class on her mare Emerald, followed by Amanda in 2nd with Elamo, John in 3rd with Rocky, Heidi on Posh and Ainslie on Havana tied for 4th, Lizzie on Darcey in 5th and Katie on Honey rounding out the class in 5th.

The sun kept shining for the Best Rider class, which tested both the riders’ positions as well as their horses transitions and movement.  Heidi and her mare Posh took top honours, followed by Katie on Emerald and Lucy on Champers tied for 2nd place, Lizzie on Darcey in 3rd, John on Rocky and Ainslie on Havana tied for 4th,  Maddie and Dan in 5th, and Amanda on Elamo and Katie on Honey tied for 6th place.

The morning finished off with the Working Hunter Class, which added a new challenge for competitors in the form of optional fences. Amanda and Elamo took 1st place, with Ainslie on Havana and John on Rocky tied for 2nd, Katie on Emerald and Lizzie onDarcey tied for 3rd, Heidi on Posh were 4th, Lucy and Champers and Maddie and Dan were 5th, with Katie and Honey in 6th place to round out the class.

The competition for afternoon jumping (always a crowd favourite!)  was fierce, and the weather did not disappoint, with the gorgeous sun continuing to shine. Lizzie and Elamo took top spot, followed closely by Marian and her mare Havana in 2nd, Katie and Honey and Kirsten on Dan tied for 3rd, Maddie and Louis in 4th, and Sheena and her Rocky in 5th.

The day finished with an awards presentation back at the yard for the riders who collected the most points over the day. Championship was awarded to Lizzie with Heidi as Reserve Champion.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone to helped and took part, especially to Judges Sasha and Jen, and with special mention to our fabulous team of instructors who came in extra early to make sure the horses were all plaited up beautifully for the day.  We are already looking forward to next year!
