A Masterly Evening on 29th July

Patrick Print delivered a wonderful evening’s “training the trainers” event on the Common, informing, entertaining and charming us all with his passion for his subject; sharing valuable…

insights at every turn.  Patrick was ably assisted by the instructors Sasha, Jen, Kate and Fernanda.  They made a marvellous impression with our lovely horses, having volunteered to be the subjects for the tuition.  Lateral work, “shoulder in” and “quarters in” all looked as natural as if the horses were born to do them.  We looked on, all enthralled to watch general principles being followed through into precision techniques.  Cool temperatures that evening could do nothing to lessen the power of Patrick’s enthusiasm for his subject, as we watched his inspirational coaching methods produce beautiful results.

It was then back to the comfortable surroundings of the Dog & Fox, where over drinks and tasty food we engaged in an intensive and fun “questions and answers” session with Patrick, around the supper table.  It was a real family atmosphere, as Patrick was able to go into more detail about what brought him to the horse world, the horse’s needs in our interactions with them, their instincts and principles of leadership for riders.  Patrick combined the theoretical and inspiring with practical common-sense, all backed up with humour, insightfulness and senses of enjoyment and achievement.  We felt so sorry for our friends who were unable to come to this wonderful event because they were on holiday and we are therefore thinking of a follow on event in October and maybe a regular fixture.  This was not only a “must see event” it was a “must listen event” too!
